Will the Catholic church marry us if we have already been married in a civil ceremony? - church anniversary program winning of souls
My husband and I were planning a big wedding. My husband has also received all the sacraments through the diocese program in our community. Unfortunately, I was very ill and was diagnosed with lupus. I had to give up my job and I lost my health insurance. My husband wanted him to add, however, he needed to do to a marriage certificate. We escaped to tell someone to notice. Finally, we share the news and our families were very happy for us and wanted a church wedding to follow plan. We married 3 years and has a handsome son of 15 months. We wanted to receive the sacrament of holy matrimony on the anniversary of our 4 years, but we were told we would not be a mass wedding, because we are already married. If the church does not recognize civil marriages to be technically not married then. Right? If this is the case that we can not allow our Nuputal Mass. What do you think?

The Church recognizes that marriage now.
It can and will bless the union, which already exists.
This is called the recognition of marriage and may be able to occur during a mass following is an article about the steps followed: http://www.americancatholic.org/Newslett ...
Speak with your pastor to begin the process.
With love and prayers in Christ.
I would try to speak to a priest to understand, to find, perhaps a Canon lawyer or a liberal church, before you have any problems with the community.
The Catholic Church does not recognize civil marriage as a binding / valid if one party is Catholic. However, this field could open a new can of worms that would be living in sin, and, unfortunately, your son will be regarded as illegal.
Some churches are very stubborn about these things.
It would be a real marriage, but could renew their vows or blessing for the Church
The answer to your book is yes. Consultation with other priests.
Finally, you try to do anything wrong.
Some priests are old school and new school
Who are more liberal. You have the right choice.
Anyproblem you can inquire at any time:
Girls and Boys Town National Hotline
Phone: 1-800-448-3000
E-mail: Hotline@girlsandboystown.org
You have several priests who can answer that for you.
Finally, it was founded by Father Flanagan. Go for it. =)
You can not marry in mass production, since they are already married.
You may request a complete cure, which means that their marriage is considered from the date of their marriage.
Perhaps you also have to recognize ( "blessing"), which effectively is a confirmation below.
All these elements can be performed at his party in a renewal of their voices.
If you are in a civil union of three years, is a "marriage" was not appropriate. Had he taken the time to educate themselves, they would have learned that you have had the marriage a "church" since the beginning. All you need is the same as a marriage certificate anyway. Sounds like you had the rest of the preparation for marriage is done. You can ask the priest to celebrate the ceremony!
Menawhile, until they should get married in the direction of the church, you do not receive Communion.
My grandmother and grandfather were married in the public service in times of war, then married again after she returned from the war, the Catholic Church. My grandmother had a son, as they do, then it was war, and could even marry a priest in the Catholic Church. Each case is known as "extenuating circumstances" or something. Sound like your situation is extenuating circumstances. I talked to the priest, if he says no, talk to another priest to another church, because even a church, sometimes things are different and it is one of the priests (not) the Catholic Church, whether the desire something to do. Good luck
I know someone who has done seven times.
Why not a renewal ceremony?
Although not yet married in the Catholic Church (unless stopped) is getting married in the church. And if they are Catholic, a mass nuptial flight
If one of you is Catholic, you need a dispensation for a mixed marriage. You will not be a mass of only a ceremony with readings and the blessing of the rings, etc. .. (no community).
Talk to your pastor.
Now that both are not yet married to another person and both Catholics and to be able to get the priest to a kind of ceremony for two.
Visit other Catholic churches and ask them!
Good luck.

Yes, because the Catholic Church does not recognize civil marriages.
